Everything started with wood.

The wood that represents life in our latitudes:
the wood that we breathe, that has accompanied us since our childhood, that we play, grow and learn with;
the wood that is part of our environment and our inner world;
the wood that surrounds and protects us, that grows in our forests, that shapes our dreams and that we use to achieve them.

Several decades have gone by since the first glulam beam was produced in our factory. In these years we have worked hard and with passion every day collecting precious experiences and realizing unique projects winning many almost impossible challenges.
We have always been eager to improve and to grow, to make the impossible possible and to guarantee an impeccable service and a perfect product to all our clients, and to support architects, engineers and designers in their creative visions and ideas.

We write the year 1974, the first glulam beam leaves our factory. Already from that point on we have been eager to realize great projects..
Holzbau acquired renown fast and realized important buildings: amongst others, Italy’s first ice rink in Varese in 1976.
In the eighties, famous planners and architects took an interest in glulam and trusted in Holzbau. In 1988, for example, the Sala Portoghesi in Montecatini Terme (Italy) was built under the direction of the architect Paolo Portoghesi and in 1987 the Centro Torri in Parma was erected under the direction of the architect Aldo Rossi.
In the nineties, our company had already established itself very well. It realized one of Europe’s largest roofed glulam structures still existing today: the FuturShow (ex PalaMalaguti) in Casalecchio di Reno, Bologna (Italy).
In the new millennium, the challenges continue to grow and for the first time in Italy, the classic construction rules are inverted and wood supports concrete. We are talking about the industrial facility Novello in Oggiona Varese, a perfect example for green architecture that boasts a structure with 87 glulam columns.
Nowadays, glulam has become one of the most favourite building materials in the planning world. Thus, the success story of Holzbau goes on: we will continue to be pioneers in our sector and to collaborate with great planners and architects in order to realize great projects...
