Raw material wood

Raw material wood
In the building industry, the theme of energy saving has a fundamental role – the building systems in use today will define the energy demands of the next decades. Thanks to its low heat conductivity and excellent insulation properties, wood is particularly well suited to the construction of passive and low energy demand homes.

Wood protects the environment
Every tree subtracts from the atmosphere, on average, 6 kg of carbon dioxide per day, thus contributing decisively to protection of the climate. In practice, every cubic metre of sawn timber absorbs approximately 250 kg of CO2.
The production of a cubic metre of aluminium emits to the atmosphere 22 tons of CO2; one cubic metre of sawn timber, just 0.015 tons.

Wood is a raw material that renews quickly
In the Alpine regions, one cubic metre of wood grows every second: a quantity that every day corresponds to the wood needed to build 2.160 homes; and in a year, to build 788 400 homes.

Woods are continually reforested
The forest areas in most industrialised countries and above all in North America and in Europe are now increasing again, as more timber grows than is felled.

A life “in” wood is a healthy life
Wood has a positive influence on our immune system, as it absorbs toxic substances from the atmosphere, reducing their concentration to one fifth in just a few hours. In a study made in a school, it was seen that the classroom wall cladding in wood considerably limited stress on the students, among others reducing their heart rate. At the same time it reduces the relational commitment the class requests from teachers.
